HC Deb 05 July 1916 vol 83 c1497
6. Sir J. LONSDALE

asked the Secretary for Foreign Affairs if he has any further Report from the American Embassy respecting the treatment of British prisoners in Germany; and if the representations conveyed to the German Government through the American Embassy have produced the desired effect?

Lord R. CECIL

It is assumed that the hon. Member's question refers to civilian prisoners of war. I regret to say that no reply has yet been received from the German Government to our proposal for the exchange of all the British civilians interned at Ruhleben.

Mr. G. FABER

What is proposed to be done?

Lord R. CECIL

Perhaps the hon. Gentleman will put his question down for tomorrow.
