HC Deb 12 January 1916 vol 77 c1584
59. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Prime Minister whether Lord Kitchener has asked for 1,500,000 men before the end of 1916?

The PRIME MINISTER

I do not know-to what my hon. Friend refers.

Mr. HOGGE

Has the right hon. Gentleman not noticed that the President of the Board of Education stated to the Trades Congress that he would communicate to them a Cabinet secret that Lord Kitchener wanted 1,500,000 men in 1916; and does he not think that if these facts exist they should not be given in the first place to the House of Commons?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should like notice of that question. I do not really know to what my hon. Friend refers.
