§ 41. Sir J. LONSDALEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War if, in the appointment of temporary quartermasters, a preference is given to re-engaged ex-warrant and non-commissioned officers of the Royal Engineers over regimental sergeant-majors serving with divisions overseas; and if he will take steps to ensure that, as far as possible, men serving at the front shall have equal opportunities of promotion to those on Home service?
§ Mr. TENNANTTemporary commissions are not given to soldiers serving on regular attestations. The hon. Baronet will see that a non-commissioned officer or warrant officer who had been commissioned could not revert to the ranks.
