HC Deb 10 January 1916 vol 77 cc1268-9
22. Mr. DUNDAS WHITE

asked the President of the Local Government Board if he will state what is the estimated number of the aliens who were included in the National Register but, because they are aliens, are not eligible for the Army?

The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Long)

I would hesitate to give an estimate, but I think it may be assumed that the number is comparatively small.

Mr. WHITE

Can the right hon. Gentleman give an approximate estimate?

Mr. LONG

I have no information which would enable me from the Register to estimate what the figures are.

Sir P. MAGNUS

Is it the fact that sons of friendly aliens are excluded from joining His Majesty's Forces when they are resident in this country?
