HC Deb 10 January 1916 vol 77 cc1263-4
13. Mr. O'GRADY

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Munitions whether he is aware that the Prime Minister received a resolution of protest from the Licensed Victuallers National Defence League, No. 2 Yorkshire District, against the orders of the Central Control (Liquor) Board applying to the West Riding of Yorkshire, and also requesting that such orders should be submitted to arbitration by an impartial body; whether he is aware that an acknowledgment of such protest and request was written to Mr. T. W. Hesketh, Batley; and whether, in view of the fact stated, the request for arbitration will now be granted?

Dr. ADDISON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. My right hon. Friend does not think it desirable to take the course suggested. The merits of the case were dealt with in my reply to my hon. Friend on 22nd December, and I understand that the Order in question continues to have a beneficial effect.
