HC Deb 06 January 1916 vol 77 c1092
38. Mr. LUNDON

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department whether Lord Milner has ever complied with Section 3 of the Act of 1773 (13 Geo. III., cap. xxi.), under which he claims to be a British citizen although born in Germany and the son of a German subject; if not, whether his property stands in the same position as that of an alien enemy; and what steps he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. BRACE

The Section referred to by the hon. Member was repealed in 1871.

Mr. OUTHWAITE

May I ask if Lord Milner, under German law, is a German citizen, and has he renounced his allegiance—

Mr. SPEAKER

You cannot expect the hon. Gentleman to have a knowledge of German law.
