HC Deb 06 January 1916 vol 77 cc1093-4
48. Sir E. CORNWALL

asked the Prime Minister whether he will give particulars as to the operations on the Western frontier of Egypt, the nationality of the enemy, what British troops are engaged, who is in command, and what losses have been sustained in this district?

Mr. TENNANT

All information which can advantageously be published in regard to these operations has already been communicated to the Press. The publication of the particulars asked for would be detrimental to our troops and advantageous to our enemies.

50. Sir E. CORNWALL

asked the Prime Minister whether any change is proposed in the supreme command in Egypt to co-ordinate the military operations in Mid-Asia and the Eastern Levant and North-East Africa?

Mr. TENNANT

As has been already announced, Lieutenant-General Sir A. Murray has been appointed to succeed General Sir Charles Monro in the Eastern theatre of war.
