HC Deb 23 February 1916 vol 80 c690
45. Colonel YATE

asked the Prime Minister whether, instead of moving a Resolution recommending that no Member of Parliament should receive salary in the coming financial year both as a Member of Parliament and as a member of His Majesty's Forces, he will move a Resolution that in the coming financial year no Member of Parliament should receive any salary at all?

The PRIME MINISTER

The answer is in the negative.

Colonel YATE

Has the right hon. Gentleman received any representations from his constituents objecting to payment of salaries to Members?

The PRIME MINISTER

No, Sir, none.

Colonel YATE

Would the right hon. Gentleman submit a referendum to his constituents on the subject?

Sir F. BANBURY

When will the Resolution be taken?

The PRIME MINISTER

Not until the new financial year.
