HC Deb 17 February 1916 vol 80 c248
72. Sir JOHN SPEAR

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture if he can give any further information relative to the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Somerset?

Mr. ACLAND

The only confirmed outbreak has been that which was announced in the Press, at Somerset and Bath Asylum, within two miles of Wells. All the affected animals have been slaughtered, and the slaughter of the contact animals on the asylum premises was completed yesterday. No origin of this outbreak can at present be assigned.
