HC Deb 14 December 1916 vol 88 c852
119. Mr. BARLOW

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office with regard to the provision of ambulance for the Volunteer Force, whether he is aware that Lancashire and other counties have already got an efficient Volunteer ambulance force; and, if so, if he will explain why no provision is made for recognising the ambulance in the new Volunteer Regulations?

Mr. FORSTER

Yes, Sir; I am aware that there are in existence Volunteer ambulance units, but the desirability of using units of this force other than Infantry units depends upon the use to which such units can be put in connection with home-defence requirements. Until the Volunteer Bill now before Parliament has been passed, and the scheme which rests upon it has taken more definite shape, I cannot make any statement on the point raised by my hon. Friend.
