HC Deb 14 December 1916 vol 88 c827
26. Mr. PATRICK MEEHAN

asked the Chief Secretary for Ireland if the London and North-Western Railway Company and other English railway companies under the control of the Railway Executive Committee have intimated to the Irish railway companies that after the 11th instant no parcel of poultry or rabbits exceeding one hundredweight will be accepted by the English companies for carriage by passenger train; if he is aware that the Irish poultry exporters hitherto sent their poultry in hampers of three hundredweights and that it is impossible for them to procure sufficient hampers of smaller dimensions in time for the Christmas markets; and, seeing that this Regulation will affect the exportation of fowl and rabbits from Ire land for the Christmas markets, whether he will take any action in the matter?

Mr. G. ROBERTS

My right hon. Friend has asked me to answer this question. I am in communication with the railway companies with regard to this matter, and will let the hon. Gentleman know the result as soon as possible.
