HC Deb 04 December 1916 vol 88 c627
11. Mr. KING

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can give further information concerning the commandeering of the South Wales coalfields; how will compensation, if any, to the mine owners be determined; and whether the policy is to be extended to all or any other of the British coalfields?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I am not at present in a position to add to the answer which my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade gave to the hon. Member for Tottenham on Thursday last.

Mr. ROCH

Will any part of the 15 per cent. given to the miners fall to the State?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I cannot answer that question now.

Mr. ROCH

Has it not been decided?

Mr. PRETYMAN

I am not in a position to state.
