§ 12. Mr. KINGasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that, owing to transport delays and difficulties, railway trucks are much longer in transit and in being freed for another 628 load, and that a consequent shortage of railway trucks has arisen; and whether the Board of Trade will provide more labour by which this shortage and other difficulties will be remedied?
§ Mr. PRETYMANLabour is by no means the only difficulty which arises in connection with railway transport. I can assure my hon. Friend that the whole question of railway transport receives the constant attention of the Board of Trade.
§ 14. Mr. PRATTasked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the increasing difficulty of railway transport in Scotland, he proposes taking steps to secure the pooling and centralised control of the whole of the railway rolling stock in Scotland, including wagons privately owned?
§ Mr. PRETYMANThe wagons of the principal Scottish railway companies are already used in common. The question of pooling private wagons in Scotland is being considered.
