HC Deb 08 August 1916 vol 85 c877
98. Mr. WHITTY

asked the Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture (Ireland) whether he will now grant an inquiry, in county Louth, into the question of ring-net fishing in Dundalk Bay?

Mr. RUSSELL (Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture, Ireland)

I have made inquiries into the question submitted by the hon. Member, and find that, owing to the absence of the main body of fishermen on naval service at the present time, it would be impossible to hold such an inquiry as is suggested. The inquiry, if held, must embrace Arklow, Annagasson, and other ports, and must wait an opportunity when all those affected can be heard.
