HC Deb 02 August 1916 vol 85 c300
52. Mr. BYRNE

asked the Prime Minister whether Major Sir Francis Vane has been asked for or will be allowed to make any report on the recent events in Dublin during his time in charge; and, if not, will he call for and cause to be published a report from this man who was so closely connected with events in Dublin during the rising?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Asquith)

No report has, I understand, been asked for from this officer, but no doubt evidence will be taken from him at the inquiry over which my right hon. Friend the Member for Walthamstow will preside?

Captain GWYNN

Will the inquiry be held before this House rises?

The PRIME MINISTER

I cannot say. It will be held with all possible promptitude.
