HC Deb 23 September 1915 vol 74 cc555-6
15. Mr. CURRIE

asked the President of the Board of Trade how many women have been engaged by English railway companies within the last year; whether many of them are employed in various ways which involve them in standing for long periods; whether the railway companies in Scotland have, so far as practicable, provided their women employées with seats; and whether he will endeavour to arrange with the English railway companies to do so also?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I cannot say how many women have been engaged by the English railway companies during the past year. I have no reason to believe that these companies do not provide seats for their female employés when it is practicable to do so.
