HC Deb 23 September 1915 vol 74 c556
19. Mr. HOGGE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any settlement has been reached in the dispute with the Edinburgh and Leith Flint Glass Company; whether he can say if any foreign labour has been introduced; and what further steps he proposes to take in the matter?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

This matter is still being inquired into by the Chief Industrial Commissioner, and, in the circumstances, I do not think it desirable to make any statement on the subject.

Mr. HOGGE

Does the right hon. Gentleman know that the men are being distributed to other parts of the country?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

No, Sir, I was not aware of that. The matter has been in the hands of the Chief Industrial Commissioner, and he advises me that he cannot make a statement on the subject.
