§ 32. Mr. ANDERSONasked the President of the Local Government Board whether he will refuse sanction to any order, drafted by the Departmental Committee appointed to consider the duties of Poor Law officers, which takes away or diminishes the responsibilities or liabilities of relieving officers as to keeping a book recording all applications made to them for relief and as to relief of the poor, especially in regard to such as are in a condition of sudden or urgent necessity; whether he is aware that the previous draft orders of this Committee, both as to out-relief and the government of Poor Law institutions, aroused contention and opposition and were greatly amended before sanction; and whether he will suspend the work of the Committee until at least six months after the end of the War?
§ The PRESIDENT of the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Long)When I see the Committee's Report I will consider what action should be taken upon it, but I understand that the Committee do not propose to issue any further Report affecting the duties of Poor Law officers before the end of the War.
