HC Deb 22 September 1915 vol 74 c451
47. Mr. TYSON WILSON

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government is concerned in placing a contract in America for a large number of movable dwelling-houses, etc., to house refugees in Belgium and Northern France until such time as the ruined towns and villages can be reconstructed; if so, whether he is aware that in this country there are many carpenters and joiners waiting to be employed, and the number is likely to increase, and that a large amount of plant of building firms is standing idle; and whether British firms were asked to tender for the contract or part of it?

Mr. HARCOURT

After careful inquiry I can find no trace of foundation for the suggestions in the question.
