§ 7. Mr. CURRIEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been drawn to the practice of the Bank of England in refusing to accept as evidence of death a death certificate obtained by executors from the War Office; whether he is aware that the Bank of England's practice on this point differs from the practice of other banks; and whether the War Office will issue their certificates in a form which the Government's bankers will accept as sufficient?
§ Mr. TENNANTNo, Sir, my attention has not been drawn to any case in which the Bank of England has refused to accept a certificate of death of an officer issued by the War Office during the present War, nor has any application been made by the Bank of England for the issue of certificates in a form different from that at present in use. If such an application were made it would, of course, receive consideration.
§ Mr. CURRIEMay I send the right hon. Gentleman some information on the point?
§ Mr. TENNANTYes, Sir.
