HC Deb 21 September 1915 vol 74 cc302-3
15. LIEUT.-COMMANDER WEDGWOOD

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether complaints have been received as to a shortage of hand grenades or trench mortars in the Dardanelles, and whether the remedying of this shortage comes under the War Office or the Ministry of Munitions?

Mr. TENNANT

Demands have been received from the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Mediterranean Force, from time to time, for grenades and trench mortars. For some weeks the supply of grenades has exceeded the demand, but the supply of trench mortars has not reached the number required. More will be sent as soon as they and the requisite ammunition for them are delivered. All these stores are supplied by the Ministry of Munitions on requisition from the War Office.
