HC Deb 20 October 1915 vol 74 c1774
29. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked whether supplies of timber and corrugated iron have been disembarked at the Dardanelles to enable shelters to be erected for the troops during the winter months; and, if not, what other steps have been taken to prepare for the comfort and health of the troops during the coming winter?

Mr. TENNANT

Careful attention has been given to this matter. Arrangements for the supply of timber are being made locally, and a consignment from this country to supplement the local supplies has also been arranged for. Corrugated steel has been sent. I may add that sectional huts are being made up and despatched from this country, in addition to the supplies of material I have mentioned.
