HC Deb 12 October 1915 vol 74 cc1192-3
61. Mr. GINNELL

asked the Postmaster-General if he would say with what object private letters passing through the post in Ireland, and officially opened at the same time for purposes of espionage, have been put into wrong envelopes and forwarded to wrong persons; whether such conduct is recorded or made known to him if no complaint is made; what satisfaction has been offered to owners of letters so treated; and, if the occurrences were accidental, what means have been adopted to avoid them in future?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. H. Samuel)

I have no knowledge of any incident such as that to which the hon. Member refers.
