HC Deb 17 May 1915 vol 71 cc1974-5
31. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he has considered, as promised to the deputation from the Isle of Wight on the 28th April, the possibility of allowing friendly aliens to enter the island on the terms contained in Clause 2 of the Restriction Amendment Order, 1915, on production of their passports and means of identification?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Tennant)

In consultation with my advisers I have carefully considered the various interests involved, and I am of opinion that any relaxation of the restrictions already in force would be prejudicial to the safety of the country.
