HC Deb 17 May 1915 vol 71 c1972
25. Mr. JAMES HOPE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he can give any further indication of the principles on which the local committees under the Defence of the Realm (No. 3) Bill will be constituted; and whether the actual appointments will be made by the Board of Control?

The SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Acland)

As my right hon. Friend has stated before, these are questions on which the Government will wish to consult the central Board of Control, when constituted, before coming to a decision.

Mr. J. HOPE

In any case I take it there will be direct representation on these committees of the armament workers themselves?

Mr. ACLAND

I think that has been stated several times in Debate, but I cannot pledge myself.
