HC Deb 04 March 1915 vol 70 cc947-8
9. Mr. OUTHWAITE

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been drawn to the condemnation by the Prime Minister of Australia of the action of the Governor of South Australia in delivering a speech advocating the introduction of Asiatics into Australia; and whether he has addressed any communications to the Governors of self-governing States, suggesting that they should endeavour to secure the remission of legislation directed against the immigration of Indians, in view of the military services now being rendered by Indian soldiers?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Mr. Harcourt)

The answer to the first question is yes, and to the second question, no.
