HC Deb 23 June 1915 vol 72 c1152
4. Sir JOHN SPEAR

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if sailors of the Royal Navy who lose their clothes and kit in consequence of the sinking of their ship through war are entitled to receive payment to refit themselves; and, if so, where must such men apply for payment?

Dr. MACNAMARA

Men of the Royal Navy, including Reservists, who lose their service kits in consequence of the sinking of His Majesty's ships during war or peace are re-kitted without cost to themselves. Action is taken by the commanding officers of His Majesty's ships or depôts to which the men are sent for the purpose of re-kitting.
