HC Deb 23 June 1915 vol 72 c1152
2. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can give the date when Rear-Admiral Thursby's Committee, appointed to inquire into the pay and condition of service in the accountant branch of the Royal Navy, reported; whether the Admiralty have yet acted upon the recommendations made; and, if not, is it their intention to do so?

Dr. MACNAMARA

The date of the Report is 31st March, 1914. As I have previously stated, the Report has been deferred for final consideration until the termination of hostilities. I may say, however, that certain recommendations of the Committee have already been adopted.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that the time has come to consider the question of the paymaster, more especially in view of the circumstances of the War?

Dr. MACNAMARA

No. As I have said, there is to be further consideration of the subject first.
