HC Deb 10 June 1915 vol 72 c346
43. Mr. KING

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether it is the policy of the Board to discourage the killing of young stock; and whether, in order to preserve an adequate supply of store cattle for the coming winter, the killing of calves and eating of veal are being discouraged?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Acland)

The answer to the first part of the hon. Member's question is in the affirmative. With regard to the second part, I would refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave yesterday to the hon. Member for the Bassetlaw Division of Nottingham in reply to a somewhat similar question.
