REESasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether German firms trading in Nyasaland are allowed to renew their trading licences; if so, whether they can now trade freely in goods which they have been accustomed to import from allied and neutral countries, though they cannot obtain goods from Germany; and, if so, whether any action will be taken to prevent such German firms from trading at the present time?
§ Mr. BONAR LAWThe business of the principal German firm is being compulsorily wound up. The affairs of the other two German firms are under examination, and I am awaiting a report from the Governor of the Protectorate on the subject.
