HC Deb 07 June 1915 vol 72 cc68-9
20. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether German firms trading in Nyasaland are allowed to renew their trading licences; if so, whether they can now trade freely in goods which they have been accustomed to import from allied and neutral countries, though they cannot obtain goods from Germany; and, if so, whether any action will be taken to prevent such German firms from trading at the present time?

Mr. BONAR LAW

The business of the principal German firm is being compulsorily wound up. The affairs of the other two German firms are under examination, and I am awaiting a report from the Governor of the Protectorate on the subject.
