HC Deb 07 June 1915 vol 72 c79
37. Mr. G. TERRELL

asked the Prime Minister whether, with a view to obtaining greater output from the factories engaged in the production of munitions of war, the Government propose to introduce legislation to suspend the Bank Holiday Act during the duration of the War?

The PRIME MINISTER

The Government do not propose to introduce any such legislation as is suggested. The need of a reasonable holiday for workmen is of exceptional importance during the present period, in order to avoid overstrain.
