asked whether men are now permitted to enlist whose defects of eyesight can be corrected by glasses?

Mr. TENNANT

Those who wear glasses are not prevented from enlisting unless their eyesight is defective beyond a definite limit, such men are allowed to join the Army for certain definite purpose, such as drill instructors, shoeing smiths, Army Veterinary Corps, etc.

Colonel YATE

Could not men of this sort be well utilised in the Army Service Corps and other like occupations and so liberate men with better eyesight?

Mr. TENNANT

There are some utilised for that purpose. I would remind the hon. and gallant Gentleman that there are some services in the Army Service Corps definitely demanding good eyesight.
