HC Deb 05 July 1915 vol 73 cc20-1
30. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he can make some definite pronouncement as to the date when the long promised Persian Gulf medal, earned in 1912, will be awarded?

The PARLIAMENTAY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Dr. Macnamara)

It is hoped to begin the distribution of the medals very shortly.

Sir C. KINLOCH COOKE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware there is a very common saying in the Navy—[HON. MEMBERS: "Order, order!"]—"That our widows will have to stitch the medals on our relics"?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I regret the delay. There has been Departmental correspondence with the India Office, and some difficulty in making up the roll. Nevertheless, I hope the distribution will be made very shortly.

Colonel YATE

Will it be extended to the members of the Royal Indian Marine Service?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I must ask for notice of that.
