HC Deb 23 February 1915 vol 70 c165
21. Colonel YATE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether the medal rolls for the officers and men of the Royal Indian Marine for services performed by them during the operations for the prevention of gun-running in the Persian Gulf during the years 1909–14 have yet been compiled, as is being done in the case of the Royal Navy; and what steps are being taken regarding the distribution of prize money to the officers and men of the Royal Indian Marine entitled to it for the same services?

The UNDER-SECRETARY Of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Charles Roberts)

The Admiralty has been asked whether the Lords Commissioners are prepared to grant the naval medal to officers and men of the Royal Indian Marine, and if a reply in the affirmative is received the necessary instructions will be given for the preparation of medal rolls. The Secretary of State is not aware of any officer or man of the Royal Indian Marine being entitled to prize money, but will consult the Government of India on this point.
