HC Deb 22 February 1915 vol 70 c37
38. Mr. SNOWDEN

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if where normal wages exceed 15s. in the case of adults such wages are reduced below that through short time the contribution of the insured person has to be paid in full, or has the insured's contribution to be according to the scale, based not on normal or average earnings but on the actual earnings for each week?

The CHANCELLOR of the Duchy of LANCASTER (Mr. Montagu)

By the terms of the Act the contribution depends not upon the wages actually earned, but upon the rate of remuneration per working day, and as long as this rate remains unchanged the contribution does not vary.
