HC Deb 22 February 1915 vol 70 c37
43. Mr. SHIRLEY BENN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the investing public who are not dye users will be allowed to apply, and allotments made to them, for shares in the proposed National Dye Manufacturing Company; whether the shares are to be allotted only to dyers and dye users in the United Kingdom; and whether, if more than the original capital is secured through the co-operation of the general public, the present scheme can be and will be enlarged?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Applications for shares in the company will be invited from users of dyes and colours, and from others willing to assist in providing a supply thereof. The company propose to take powers to raise from time to time further capital, beyond that to be provided by the first issue of shares, and the scheme provides that for every additional £4 so subscribed up to a total share capital of £3,000,000 the Treasury will lend £1 on the same terms as the original Government advance.
