HC Deb 11 February 1915 vol 69 cc728-9
88. Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Secretary for Scotland whether he will take steps to ascertain the condition of the fishing communities on the coasts of Scotland from time to time with a view to taking adequate measures to mitigate distress, especially amongst the families of the older men who are unable to serve in His Majesty's Forces or to ply their trade under peace conditions?

The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)

The answer to the hon. and gallant Member's question is in the affirmative. I need hardly say that I fully appreciate the situation, and that I am receiving regular information on the subject.

Mr. WATT

Will the right hon. Gentleman see that these fishing communities of Scotland have the same financial help as is given to stockbrokers and bill-brokers?
