HC Deb 10 February 1915 vol 69 cc566-7
60. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War how many men in the surveyors' section of the Directorate of Barrack Construction have applied for permission to enlist; and to how many has such permission been granted?

Mr. TENNANT

Four members of the surveyors' section applied for permission to enlist, but leave could not be granted as their services were required in connection with urgent military works, and five other members of the section had already been lent to other departments for the same purpose. One member of the section, who is a captain in the Territorial Force, has been given leave of absence to take up his military duties.
