HC Deb 09 February 1915 vol 69 cc394-5
31. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India whether 10-inch guns were supplied for the defence of Madras, as recommended by the Committee on Indian Defences; whether such guns were there when the "Emden" shelled the fort; and, if not, when and why were they removed?

Mr. CHARLES ROBERTS

The Secretary of State considers that it would not be consistent with the public interest to give the facts asked for in the hon. Member's question.

Sir J. D. REES

May I ask whether it would not be consistent with the public interest to get the gun?
