HC Deb 09 February 1915 vol 69 cc399-400
51. Mr. WILKIE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War, whether co-operative societies have been asked to contract for the supply of foodstuffs to the troops; and, if not, whether he will take steps to have this done in view of the facilities possessed by co-operative societies in the manufacture and supply of food at reasonable prices?

Certain co-operative societies are already noted on the War Office list for the supply of provisions, and others hold local contracts for the supply of the troops in the various commands. Applications to be invited to tender from co-operative societies not already noted will be duly considered.
