Mr. WATTasked the Under-Secretary for War whether his Department has appointed a firm in Glasgow to represent it in the giving out and receiving of clothing for the Army; if so, will he say what is the name of the representative so appointed; what are the terms to be paid to such firm; and whether they are in the form of a percentage on the cost of the clothing or of any profits that may be got out of the contractors for the clothing?
Mr. BAKERNo such appointment has been made by the War Office, but I understand that some such arrangement has been made by a contractor to the War Office, who was authorised to sub-contract. I do not know the name of the agent or the terms of his remuneration.
