HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 cc148-9
97. Mr. BUTLER LLOYD

asked the Postmaster-General if he will recommend an increase in the wages of the temporary postmen in the Shrewsbury and similar districts, seeing that the 22s. per week that they now receive, with no extra payment for extended deliveries, cannot be considered a living wage, owing to the increase in the cost of living; and, if an increase be granted, if it may date back to the commencement of employment?

The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Hobhouse)

I am considering whether any improvement in the wages of temporary postmen at Shrewsbury and other similar towns is warranted.
