HC Deb 23 December 1915 vol 77 cc604-5
27. Mr. NEWDEGATE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether Grants allowed to officers' hospitals, which have received no other form of assistance, are varied in amount; if so, what is the maximum and what the minimum Grant; and what is the cause of such inequality?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Forster)

Many of our sick and wounded officers receive care and treatment in private hospitals provided by the praiseworthy generosity of people of sympathy and wealth. Other officers, again, are on occasion accommodated in nursing homes professionally conducted. Where payment or assistance from public funds is asked for, each case is considered on its merits.
