asked the Under - Secretary of State for War whether field cashiers with the Expeditionary Force are appointed at a salary of £250 a year with the rank of lieutenant; whether they have passing through their hands sums ranging from 500,000 to 1,000,000 francs per week and sometimes more; and whether he will consider the possibility of granting promotion to such of these officers who carry out their duties with ability?
