§ 5. Major HUNTasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether glycerine is now allowed to be imported into Germany through neutral countries as is the case with tea and beer; and, if so, whether, in view of the fact that glycerine is largely used in the manufacture of explosives, he can see his way to make it absolute contraband?
§ Lord R. CECILI would refer the hon. Member to the Royal Proclamation, dated exactly a year ago, on 23rd December, 1914, and published on the same day in a supplement to the "London Gazette" of 22nd December, by which glycerine was declared absolute contraband of War. Every effort has been made since that date to prevent the importation of this commodity into Germany.
