HC Deb 21 December 1915 vol 77 c187
31. Mr. R. MCNEILL

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, in the case of members of county and borough police forces who join the Army for the duration of the War, the time passed in such service will count as approved service in the police force under the Police Pensions Act?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Simon)

Police authorities have power to order the military service of any constable who has joined the Army for the duration of the War with the consent of his chief officer to count as police service for the purposes of superannuation under the Police Acts.
