HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 c410
73. Sir STEPHEN COLLINS

asked what quantity of rum has been sent out to our troops since the commencement of the War?

Mr. TENNANT

My hon. Friend the Financial Secretary gave the total quantity of rum sent overseas up to the beginning of March on the 8th ultimo. Perhaps my hon. Friend will be able to calculate from this the amount sent out up to date, but I will have the calculation made and will send him the figure, if he requires the exact quantity sent up to the latest possible date.

Sir S. COLLINS

Will the right hon. Gentleman use his influence with the authorities at the War Office to get them to learn the teaching of science and experience on this question as to the desirability of discontinuing the supply of rum?

Mr. TENNANT

I have already answered that question.
