HC Deb 21 April 1915 vol 71 c255
21. Mr. NEWDEGATE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether he is aware that veterinary surgeons of the Territorial Force have in many cases left lucrative businesses, which have gone to pieces in consequence; and whether, owing to the fact that these officers suffer great financial loss, he will at once take steps to put them on the same footing pecuniarily as officers now joining the Army in a similar capacity?

Mr. BAKER

I do not doubt that in some cases these veterniary surgeons have made sacrifices and have suffered loss. Their rates of pay are the same as those for officers joining the Army now. The question of granting them a gratuity is under consideration.
