§ 30. Mr. W. THORNEasked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he is aware that Sir John Jackson, contractor, who is erecting the huts on Salisbury Plain, has provided no accommodation for the men to get their meals in; and whether he will 1494 see that huts and fires are provided for the comfort of the workmen engaged in building the huts?
Mr. BAKERNo, Sir, I do not think that matters are as stated. The War Office has received, quite recently, an entirely unsolicited letter from a foreman employed by Sir John Jackson, Limited, writing on behalf of a large number of the workmen employed by this firm, stating that the treatment they receive is beyond praise, and asking that their thanks may be conveyed to the firm.
