§ 87. Mr. BRIDGEMANasked whether Yeomen who joined on mobilisation were allowed only 10s. per kit, whilst those who joined a month later received 23s.; and, if so, what is the reason for the distinction?
Mr. BAKERNo distinction was made between Territorial Force soldiers serving on mobilisation and those who enlisted subsequently. Men who produced a full kit of necessaries (including a pair of serviceable boots) received a payment of 10s.; but those whose kits were not complete received no payment but were provided with the articles they required. No payment other than the 10s. was issuable to any Territorial Force soldier in respect of necessaries.
